Get Ready for an Exciting Mission to the Central Coast!
This weekend, we’re flying to Paso Robles (KPRB), located 78 nautical miles northwest of our last destination, Santa Inez (KIZA). We plan to arrive at noon 12:00 PM. We will have lunch at Joe’s One-Niner Diner; they accept credit cards and will honor separate checks. They have a hearty menu and features fresh baked cinnamon rolls. There are ample tie downs by the restaurant. They close at 2:00 PM. The runways at KPRB are in good condition according to AirNav. Runway 19/01 measures 6008’ × 150’; the smaller runway is 31/13 and it is 4,701 feet by 100 feet. Both runways are in good condition and can accommodate larger diesel aircraft. Hope to see you guys.

This weekend’s mission is to a destination that is an old favorite and quite a rarity: Chiriaco Summit (L77). A charming desert destination near the Salton Sea. Arrival time is 1:00PM. The airport has a paved runway, measuring 4000’ long and 50’ wide, at an elevation of 1711’.
Lunch will be at the Chiriaco Summit Coffee Shop at the airport; the place is a popular truck-stop, and the menu is full of soups, sandwiches, omelet, burgers, and other choices. A highlight of the place is the dessert menu, featuring pie a la mode and a good-sized banana split. 🏆👍
After lunch, we can enjoy a small post-prandial excursion to the cool General Patton Museum behind the restaurant. The admission fee is $18 for adults and $15.00 for seniors and previous military. Most of us in the fleet belong to the latter two groups.
Safe flight.

French Valley, F70, Sunday November 10, 2024, 12:30PM
It’s been a long time since we’ve had a Sunday mission. The flight to F70 should be fun and hopefully with calm winds. The current Santa Anas is supposed to subside by then. If not, we’ll defer the venue; I will post updates via the MAS, our mission alert system, on Sunday morning. If you aren’t on that alert system, feel free to sign up at our opt-in page. See the section About Us.

This Saturday’s mission is to an old favorite, Montgomery Field, KMYF. Come join us for fresh salsa and ceviche at the Casa Machado Restaurant; they have the upstairs patio area reserved for us. Arrival time 12:30 PM.
The northern part of San Diego area is a beautiful place for VFR flying along the coast and inland, outside of the Bravo airspace in between Foss Field (Miramar MCAS) and Palomar Airport (KCRQ). This area is beautiful with rolling green hills and marvelous hidden estates that are only visible from the air. Please refer to your TACs for the airspace.
See you at Montgomery.
